The Financial Secretary, Mr John C Tsang, will lead a Hong Kong business mission to South Africa tomorrow (December 3) to seek new development opportunities.
The business mission comprises more than 30 members from various industries.
The visit programme runs from December 4 to 9. Mr Tsang and the business mission will have a number of meetings with leading local companies, attend business luncheons and dinners and pay visits to financial institutions such as the Johannesburg Stock Exchange and the South African Reserve Bank.
The visit by the Financial Secretary forms part of the Government's on-going efforts to strengthen investment promotion efforts in emerging markets, highlight the advantages of doing business in Hong Kong and encourage corporations to establish a foothold in Hong Kong.
Mr Tsang will leave Johannesburg on December 10 and arrive in Hong Kong on December 11. In his absence, the Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, Professor K C Chan, will act as Financial Secretary from December 4 to 8. The Secretary for Development, Mrs Carrie Lam, will act as Financial Secretary on December 9 and 10.
