Police appeal for information on two men in suspected arson in Mong Kok

     Police today (December 1) appeal to the public for information on two men in a suspected arson case in Mong Kok early yesterday morning (November 30).

     About 4.40am yesterday, Police received several reports that a fire broke out at the hawker stalls outside 188-202 Fa Yuen Street. After the fire was put out, it was believed that the fire was of suspicious origin. Active investigations by Regional Crime Unit of Kowloon West are underway.

     Nine people (including two men and six women aged between 21 and 63 while the identity of the remaining person was yet to be confirmed) died and 34 people were injured in the fire.
    
     Police later reviewed a footage captured from a CCTV installed in the vicinity and found two men walked by the scene prior to the break out of fire. Police believed they may provide information on the case.  

     Police appeal to anyone who has information about the two men and the case to contact the investigating officers on 9022 0072 or 2761 2344.
