HAD offers assistance to people affected by Fa Yuen Street fire
***********************************************************

The Home Affairs Department (HAD) is making every effort to provide assistance to people affected by the No. 4 alarm fire that broke out in Fa Yuen Street this morning (November 30).

As at 5pm, 359 affected persons had registered with the inter-departmental help desks set up by Yau Tsim Mong District Office (YTMDO) and the Social Welfare Department at the fire scene, Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Kwong Wah Hospital.

The YTMDO will later disburse relief under the General Chinese Charities Fund and donations offered by donors and charity organisations to each of the registered households in need.

The YTMDO will also open the Henry G Leong Yaumatei Community Centre and the Mong Kok Community Hall from 6pm to provide daily necessities and temporary shelter for those people in need.

A spokesman for the HAD said, "We will continue to look after the needs of affected residents and provide assistance as appropriate."
