Police appeal for information on suspected arson in Mong Kok

     Police today (November 30) appeal to the public for information on a suspected arson case in Mong Kok early this morning.

     About 4.40am, Police received serveral reports that a fire broke out at the hawker stalls outside 188-202 Fa Yuen Street.

     Nine people including two men and one woman aged between 24 and 63 died in the fire while the identities of the remaining six people were yet to be confirmed. Moreover, an 11-month-old baby boy and 16 men and 17 women, aged from 20 to 75, were injured.

     After the fire was put out, it was believed that the fire was of suspicious origin. Active investigations by Regional Crime Unit of Kowloon West are proceeding.

     Police appeal to anyone who has crime information about the case to contact the investigating officers on 9022 0072. For enquiry on the casualties, the public may call the Police hotline 2398 6329.
