***********************************************************

With the opening of two new heated swimming pools today (November 30), more people can continue to exercise and enjoy the fun of swimming in the winter season. The new swimming pools are the Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park Swimming Pool and the Ping Shan Tin Shui Wai Swimming Pool, both managed by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD).

Located at 16 Eastern Street North, Sai Ying Pun, the Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park Swimming Pool is adjacent to the Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park and the Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park Sports Centre.

Occupying an area of about 0.65 hectares, the swimming pool complex includes an indoor main pool measuring 50m x 25m, and an indoor training pool measuring 25m x 12.5m. The main pool has a spectator stand with some 1,000 seats and the venue is suitable for holding swimming competitions. Apart from the heated pool facilities, the complex also offers a nice sea view of Victoria Harbour. Swimmers can enjoy the fun of swimming while appreciating the picturesque sea view.

The Ping Shan Tin Shui Wai Swimming Pool is the first indoor heated swimming facility in Yuen Long. Housed inside the Ping Shan Tin Shui Wai Leisure and Cultural Building at 1 Tsui Sing Road, Tin Shui Wai, it provides an indoor training pool measuring 25m x 25m. Other facilities in the building include an indoor sports centre and a major public library, which will be opened in phases next year upon completion of internal decoration.

With the utilisation of renewable energy, the above two swimming pool complexes fully epitomise environmentally friendly design.
