TD's new mobile application for Android device users now available
*********************************************************

Further to its roll-out of the mobile website service and mobile application for iPhone users, the Transport Department (TD) today (November 29) launched the "Hong Kong eTransport" mobile application for Android device users to enable more people to enjoy one-stop, point-to-point public transport enquiry services to plan journeys at any time and anywhere for free.

The "Hong Kong eTransport" mobile application for Android devices is a free app that can be downloaded from the Android Market by entering "HKeTransport" in the search bar. The "Hong Kong eTransport" iPhone mobile application has recorded more than 190,000 downloads since its launch in August 2011.

Users can search for possible public transport routes based on individual preferences, such as the number of transfers, fares, estimated journey times and transport modes, with search results displayed in table form and on a map. They may set their current location and destination by making use of the smartphone's global positioning system (GPS) function so as to facilitate route and information searching. They may also enquire about service details of different modes of public transport, making "Traffic Information at Finger Tips, Useful for Deciding Your Trips" possible.

For enquiries or comments on the service, please call the 1823 Call Centre or send email direct to the TD (tdenq@td.gov.hk).
