Woman charged with infanticide

     Police today (November 29) charged a 26-year-old non-ethnic Chinese woman with one count of infanticide.

     At about 11pm on November 26, Police received an emergency call for ambulance from a 26-year-old non-ethnic Chinese woman who reported that her baby daughter kept vomiting after having fallen from a bed at her flat on No. 181 Temple Street. The 11-month-old baby girl was rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in unconscious state and subsequently certified dead at 11.15pm on November 27.

     Upon Police investigations and initial medical examinations to the baby, the woman has been charged with one count of infanticide today (November 29).

     She will appear at Kowloon City Magistrates' Courts this morning (November 29).

     District Crime Squad of Yau Tsim District are still actively investigating the case and will arrange a post-mortem examination to ascertain the baby's cause of death.
