"Know more about the Animal World" roving exhibition (with photos)
***********************************************************

Want to know more about mammals and amphibians? How do birds court a mate? How do animals reproduce? And what are the ways to conserve endangered animals? You can find answers to these questions in the exhibition "Know more about the Animal World" organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD).

The annual roving exhibition will be staged at five LCSD parks, namely Kowloon Park, Hong Kong Park, Tuen Mun Park, Tai Po Waterfront Park and the Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens, from Saturday (December 3) until February 5, 2012.

A spokesman for the LCSD said, "A whole new series of informative panels featuring animals pictured vividly in photos will be put up at the parks. Information ranging from classification and habitats of animals and their predatory and courtship behaviours to reproduction and conservation of animals will be displayed.

"Parks are an ideal place for the public to relax and get close to nature. Through zoological education in our parks, we hope to help members of public enrich their knowledge of animals' life and behaviour, as well as understand more about the importance of caring for animals and conserving nature."

To launch the exhibition, an array of activities will be held between 10am and 4pm this Saturday and Sunday (December 4) at Kowloon Park. Apart from being able to tour the exhibition, people will also have the chance to participate in special educational activities together with family and friends.

Games stalls will be set up at the Arcade of Kowloon Park while a series of seminars on the topic "Know more about the Animal World" will be held in the secondary hall of the sports centre. Community organisations will also discuss animals and nature conservation with visitors.

In addition, participants on the day can get uniquely designed souvenirs by joining the "Knowledge of Animals" matching game and the "Searching for Animals" puzzle game.

The spokesman added, "Members of public can also take part in guided tours around the Bird Lake and Aviary to learn about birds' behaviour and more."
