Famed for its skilled handicraft and high quality leather, Japanese handmade fashion accessories manufacturer Tsuchiya Bag today (November 28) announces the opening of its first overseas office and showroom in Lai Chi Kok in Hong Kong.

From Hong Kong, Tsuchiya Bag hopes to expand into Mainland China by providing an online shopping service. All Tsuchiya Bag's products are manufactured in and directly delivered from Japan. Delivery can be made to Hong Kong, Mainland China and Taiwan.

Director of Tsuchiya Bag, Mr Masanori Tsuchiya, said, "Hong Kong is the best spot to start our business due to its relationship with China and low tax rate. Hong Kong's proximity and unique relationship with Mainland China have made it the business gateway to China for more than 150 years. Hong Kong's renowned free economy and international business environment continue to provide a safe and familiar route into Mainland China for overseas businesses.

"In order to explore the business potential of Mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, our Hong Kong office is responsible for marketing and sales operations. This includes developing our brand image outside Japan, planning and implementing marketing strategy, and activating online shopping," he added.

Associate Director-General of Investment Promotion, Mr Andrew Davis, congratulated Tsuchiya Bag on establishing its overseas office in Hong Kong and said, "Apart from being right on Mainland China's doorstep, Hong Kong has a simple, predictable and low tax system for businesses, with profits tax of 16.5 percent, no VAT and no GST. These give Hong Kong an advantage over other economies when it comes to attracting overseas companies to set up business in Hong Kong."

"We are delighted to have this luxury accessories company establish its business in Hong Kong and we wish it all success as it continues its expansion in our city," he added.

Starting a business in Hong Kong, for companies large and small, has been further facilitated with the launch of the Government's electronic incorporation service in March 2011. The time required for company incorporation and business registration has now been significantly reduced from four working days to one.

About Tsuchiya Bag

Tsuchiya Bag was started by Kunio Tsuchiya, who started working in Tokyo as a leather craftsman at the age of 15. At first, he made only children's school bags. But in 1965, he started his own workshop with just two sewing machines and himself working on them. His bags won many competitions and soon became well known. He began to employ skilled craftsmen and to design and make bags for adults. The companyˇ¦s aim is to continue making bags that are durable, simple and long lasting. It does this by choosing the right materials and using experienced craftsmen. There are ten stores in Japan now. More information can be found at: www.tsuchiya-kaban.com.
