Twenty-one building plans approved in October

     The Buildings Department approved 21 building plans in October - four on Hong Kong Island, six in Kowloon and 11 in the New Territories.

     Of the approved plans, seven were for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, four were for commercial developments, one was for factory and industrial developments, and nine were for community services developments.

     In the same month, consent was given for work to start on 10 building projects that, when completed, will provide 8 568 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 69 units, and 94 733 square metres of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of work for eight building projects.

     The department also issued eight occupation permits - three on Hong Kong Island, one in Kowloon and four in the New Territories.

     Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor area for domestic use was 20 936 square metres, involving 158 units, and 16 251 square metres for non-domestic use.

     The declared cost of new buildings completed in October totalled about $1 billion.

     In addition, 14 demolition consents involving 14 building structures were issued.

     The department received 2 965 complaints against unauthorised building works in October, and issued 780 removal orders on unauthorised works.
