Argentine tango troupe to perform sizzling stage show
*****************************************************

The Leisure and Cultural Services Department has invited the Tango Fire Company from Argentina to perform its "Flames of Desire" show on two nights in January.

The Evening Standard in London has described the show as "a sizzling, sensual taste of the real thing".

The Tango Fire Company was established in Argentina in 2005 by its producers Andrew Kay and David Vigo. The company premiered "Flames of Desire" in Singapore in the same year and later presented it at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, finding instant success. The strong reception led to the company touring extensively around the world over the past six years. The group tangos are choreographed by German Cornejo with Yanina Fajar as a collaborator. The individual couples choreograph their own solos in keeping with the traditions of the world of tango in Argentina. Allowing the couples creative freedom creates a showcase of the five couples' different styles, which makes the Tango Fire Company unique in its sphere of performance.

Cornejo, the troupe's choreographer and lead dancer, has won numerous prizes and seven gold medals in a series of Contests for Youth in Buenos Aires Province, as well as more than 20 first prizes at the national level. Cornejo became the World Champion of Tango in 2005. He is regarded as one of the best teachers of show tango in Buenos Aires.

"Flames of Desire" by Tango Fire from Argentina will be staged at 8pm on January 13 and 14 (Friday and Saturday) at the Auditorium, Sha Tin Town Hall. Tickets are priced at $340, $260, $180 and $120.

A tango workshop (in English) conducted by Cornejo will be held at 8pm on January 12 (Thursday) at GR2, 8/F, Grand Theatre Backstage, Hong Kong Cultural Centre. Participants with tango experience are welcome. The ticket price is $150.
