************************************************************

The following is issued on behalf of the Electoral Affairs Commission:

The Electoral Affairs Commission today (November 25) released the final Guidelines on Election-related Activities in respect of the Chief Executive Election.

"When updating the guidelines, the Commission took into account the views collected during a two-week public consultation exercise that ended on October 24," a Commission spokesman said.

"Those who intend to run for the election should familiarise themselves with the guidelines and the relevant electoral legislation. They should also strictly abide by the relevant regulations," he said.

The 2012 Chief Executive Election is scheduled to be held on March 25 next year. The nomination period for the election will be announced later.

The final guidelines can be downloaded from the Commission website (www.eac.gov.hk). Copies of the guidelines can be obtained at the Registration and Electoral Office and the Public Enquiry Service Centres of District Offices in early December.
