If you want to trace the footsteps of Dr Sun Yat-sen in Hong Kong over the last century, a smartphone and the right smartphone application (app) are all you need!
Make a date with your friends and gather at Sheung Wan Cultural Plaza this Sunday (November 27) at 1pm to take part in "Try out and find out 'Where is Dr Sun?'" Up until 5pm that day, you will be guided on a journey to the Hong Kong of the last century - back to the historical sites where Dr Sun and his fellow revolutionaries went into hiding. You will brush with other "historic" young people on the way. Decked out in costumes of the early Republican era, they will be there to hand out codes to help you find the whereabouts of Dr Sun. However, using your smartphone and the right app, this will be no secret mission to find Dr Sun - but a historical quest.
To encourage more young people to participate in this exciting event, Youth.gov.hk will also organise the "Where is Dr Sun?" City Orienteering Competition on November 27. The 15 school teams taking part in this competition will make use of tablets to accomplish a special mission on the Dr Sun Yat-sen Historical Trail to score points and win prizes. The prize presentation ceremony will take place during the event on the same day.
In addition, young people have also used their creativity to capture important historical spots. A photo contest, "Creative Take on Landmarks of History", has been held and over 500 entries have been received.
