Public views sought on HIV/AIDS strategies
******************************************

The following is issued on behalf of the Hong Kong Advisory Council on AIDS:

The Hong Kong Advisory Council on AIDS (ACA) is inviting members of the public and stakeholders to contribute recommendations for the coming set of HIV/AIDS Strategies for 2012-16.

Since 1994, the ACA has published four sets of recommended HIV/AIDS strategies which served as blueprints for the AIDS response in Hong Kong.

The ACA is currently working toward the formulation of its next set of HIV/AIDS Strategies for 2012-16. A broad-based, participatory and integrated approach of involving stakeholders has been adopted to allow key parties to contribute toward and take ownership of the eventual recommendations.

The Community Stakeholders' Consultation Meeting and online opinion survey of AIDS programmes and responses were carried out early this year. Subsequently, the Government and other stakeholders gave consideration to the opinions collected and provided additional input. A draft strategies document is now ready for public consultation at the ACA website (www.aca.gov.hk).

Members of the public are encouraged to send their views and comments by mail (address: Secretariat, Hong Kong Advisory Council on AIDS, 3/F, Wang Tau Hom Jockey Club Clinic, 200 Junction Road East, Kowloon, Hong Kong), facsimile (fax number: 2337 0897) or email (email address: aca@dh.gov.hk) on or before December 30, 2011.

For more information on previous and current recommended HIV/AIDS strategies by the ACA, please visit the ACA website (www.info.gov.hk/aids/english/aca/strategies.htm). For information about the local situation and programme on AIDS, please visit the website of the Virtual AIDS Office (www.aids.gov.hk).
