Appointment to Hong Kong Deposit Protection Board

     The Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau announced today (November 18) the appointment of Ms Kerry Ching Kim-wai as a member of the Hong Kong Deposit Protection Board (HKDPB) by the Financial Secretary under the Deposit Protection Scheme Ordinance (DPSO).  The appointment is effective from November 18, 2011 to June 30, 2014 to fill the position left vacant by Ms Eleanor Wan Yuen-yung who resigned with effect from July 18, 2011.

     Ms Ching is currently a member of the Guidelines Committee of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority.  She is also Chairman of the Hong Kong Investment Funds Association.

     A spokesman for the Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau said, "We look forward to Ms Ching's expert advice on the work of the HKDPB.  

     "We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to the outgoing member, Ms Eleanor Wan, for her invaluable contribution and constructive advice over the past three years with the HKDPB."

     The HKDPB is established under the DPSO.  Its principal function is to establish and maintain the Deposit Protection Scheme in Hong Kong.  An updated list of the Chairman and members of HKDPB is at Annex.

     The appointment was gazetted today.
