S for S: International co-operation vital in fight against crimes (with photos)

     The Secretary for Security, Mr Ambrose S K Lee, today (November 17) met with the Japanese Minister of Justice, Mr Hideo Hiraoka, in Tokyo, the second leg of Mr Lee's official visit to Korea and Japan.

     Mr Lee said he was pleased to see that there had been close co-operation between the law enforcement agencies of Hong Kong and Japan.

    "This is particularly important for both sides to be able to effectively combat international crimes such as money laundering and drug trafficking," he said.

     Mr Lee said he looked forward to enhanced exchanges between the law enforcement agencies of both places in the future.

     Today, Mr Lee also met the Director-General of Japan's Immigration Bureau, Mr Shigeru Takaya, and visited the National Diet of Japan.

     Mr Lee finished his visit to Korea yesterday (November 16). He will return to Hong Kong on November 19.
