Ng Hiu-hung to perform zheng concerts in December
*************************************************

Renowned zheng virtuoso Ng Hiu-hung will collaborate with young Chinese music performers to give two concerts next month.

The concerts will take place at 2.30pm and 7.30pm on December 17 (Saturday) at the Xiang Hai Xuan Multi-purpose Hall, Nan Lian Garden. Ng will perform well-known zheng masterpieces, including "High Mountains and Flowing Water", "Under the White Wind", "Ming Mountain", "Guangling San" and "Melody of River Han". She will join Chan Pik-sum, Hung Wai-ting, Ho Ying-ying and Ng Lai-ping in performing "A Sunny Spring in Southern Guangdong" and "Eternal Regret at Lin An". Chan will also play the erhu solo piece "Moonlit Night".

Ng Hiu-hung has trained under Rao Ningxin, Hon See-wah, Gao Zicheng and Louis Chen. Ng's delicate playing style and versatile technique enable her to produce deeply poignant performances. She has performed in the Mainland, the US, Japan, Portugal, Moscow, Singapore, the UK, Australia and Taiwan.

Her two solo zheng albums, "The Butterfly Lovers" (1996) and "Meng Jiangnu" (1998) came third on RTHK Radio 4's classical records chart, making them best sellers in the Asia-Pacific region.

"Zheng Recital by Ng Hiu-hung" is one of the programmes in the Nan Lian Garden Chinese music series presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department.
