Regional Traffic Day of Hong Kong Island

     Police officers issued a total of 484 Fixed Penalty Tickets (FPTs) and 71 summonses to road users violating traffic regulations during a one-day operation of the Regional Traffic Day on Hong Kong Island.

     The operation concluded at 7pm today (November 15) and a total of 205 officers from Traffic Hong Kong Island and District Traffic Teams of Eastern, Wan Chai, Central and Western were deployed to enforce traffic regulations at traffic black sites on Hong Kong Island.

     A total of 294 FPTs were issued for illegal parking and 190 for other traffic offences.  

     Nineteen pedestrians and 132 drivers were cautioned for committing minor traffic offences.

     Statistics revealed that a total of 2,477 traffic accidents involving casualties occurred on Hong Kong Island between January and October this year. Among the traffic accidents with pedestrians injured, 53.1 per cent were attributed to the negligence of pedestrians.
