350 more nomination forms for Election Committee Subsector Elections received today
***********************************************************

The Returning Officers (except religious subsector) for the 2011 Election Committee Subsector Elections received a total of 350 nomination forms today (November 14). This brings to 1,353 the total number of nomination forms received since nominations for the Election Committee Subsector Elections (except District Council subsectors) opened on November 8.

The Returning Officer for the tourism subsector today received a notice of withdrawal of candidature from a nominee.

"People who are eligible to run in the elections are reminded to submit their nomination forms in person to the respective Returning Officer as early as possible. The nomination forms must be received by the Returning Officers before the nomination period closes at 5pm tomorrow (November 15)," a spokesman for the Registration and Electoral Office said today.

For each subsector and sub-subsector, a poll will be held on December 11 if there is a contested election for that subsector or sub-subsector.

No nomination forms were received from the religious subsector today. Four nomination forms have been received since the start of the nomination period, involving a total of 84 nominees. Nominations of members representing this subsector are returned by six designated bodies.

The breakdown of nominations by subsectors is set out in the annex.

Particulars of the nominees will be uploaded onto the election website (www.elections.gov.hk/ecss2011/eng/nominat2.html).
