Police are investigating a traffic accident in Sha Tin today (November 13) in which an 80-year-old woman died.
About 11.58am, a private car driven by a 36-year-old woman was travelling along Chung Ling Road towards Tai Po. Upon reaching the junction with Tung Lo Wan Hill Road, it reportedly knocked down the 80-year-old woman who was crossing the road.
The woman sustained severe head injury and was rushed to Prince of Wales Hospital in unconscious state where she was certified dead at 1.25pm.
The private car driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death. She was released on bail and was required to report back to police in mid-November.
Investigations by the Special Investigations Team of Traffic, New Territories South are under way.
