Draft Chai Wan Outline Zoning Plan amended
******************************************

The Town Planning Board today (November 11) announced amendments to the draft Chai Wan Outline Zoning Plan (OZP).

Taking account of the recommendations of the Area Assessments of Industrial Land in the Territory, eight industrial sites to the north of the Chai Wan Cargo Handling Area are rezoned from "Industrial" to "Government, Institution or Community" ("G/IC") for the provision of new territorial/regional G/IC facilities and for relocating certain G/IC facilities currently occupying prime sites.

A site bounded by Wing Tai Road, Sheung Ping Street and Sheung On Street is rezoned from "Industrial" to "Open Space" while two sites at Shing Tai Road/Sheung Mau Street/Sheung Tat Street and at the junction of Siu Sai Wan Road and Sun Yip Street respectively are rezoned from "Open Space" to "G/IC". There will be a net increase in the overall open space provision in Chai Wan after the rezoning.

Moreover, the amendments also involve the deletion of the "Other Specified Uses" annotated "Pier" zone adjoining the Siu Sai Wan waterfront from the OZP, and the inclusion of a piece of land of about 3 hectares to the west of the Planning Scheme boundary under the "Green Belt" zoning.

The draft Chai Wan OZP No. S/H20/19, incorporating the amendments, is now available for public inspection during office hours at the Secretariat of the Board, the Planning Enquiry Counters in North Point and Sha Tin, the Hong Kong District Planning Office and the Eastern District Office.

Any person may make written representation in respect of the amendments to the Secretary of the Board on or before January 11. Representations made to the Board will be available for public inspection.

Copies of the draft Chai Wan OZP are available for sale at the Map Publications Centres in North Point and Yau Ma Tei. The electronic version of the OZP can be viewed at the Board's website at www.info.gov.hk/tpb.
