************************************************

The following is issued on behalf of the Community Care Fund Secretariat:

The Community Care Fund (CCF) Secretariat announced today (November 10) the commencement of disbursing the $6,000 allowance for new arrivals to eligible applicants. There are about 11 500 applications for the first batch of disbursement.

The programme to provide an allowance for new arrivals has been open for application since October 3. About 90 000 applications have been received so far.

For eligible applicants who chose to receive the allowance by direct payment through bank accounts, the allowance was deposited directly into the bank accounts as specified in their application forms. Applicants will receive a written notification from the CCF Secretariat, informing them that their applications has been approved and that the allowance has been deposited into their bank accounts. Applicants do not need to visit the bank to make any arrangements.

For eligible applicants who opted to receive the allowance in the form of cheques, they will receive a written notification from the CCF Secretariat. Within the period as specified in the notification, applicants shall bring along their identity documents and collect the cheques in person at the CCF Secretariat, upon verification of their names and identity card numbers.

Depending on the circumstances of individual applications, the time required for processing each application may be different. The CCF Secretariat will process all applications as soon as possible.

Eligible persons may submit applications under the programme to provide an allowance for new arrivals to the CCF Secretariat on or before June 30, 2012. For more information on the programme, please visit the CCF's website (www.communitycarefund.hk) or refer to the programme's publicity leaflet.
