First-day auction results for Victoria Park Lunar New Year Fair stalls

     A total of 168 wet goods stalls and three fast food stalls were successfully let on the first day of a two-day auction for stalls at the 2012 Victoria Park Lunar New Year Fair today (November 9).

     About 600 people attended the auction at Queen Elizabeth Stadium in Wan Chai from 9am to 5.45pm, a spokesman for the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department said.

     The average bid price for the wet goods stalls was $14,491, with the successful bids ranging from $8,410 to $48,300. The highest bid of $48,300 was almost 5.7 times the opening price of $8,410.

     The auction of wet goods stalls fetched a total of $2,434,490, compared with $2,720,100 last year.

     For the fast food stalls, the bid price for the 7.6 x 4.8 metre stall was $510,000, against an opening price of $290,310. The bid prices for the two 5 x 4 metre stalls were $345,000 and $210,000, against an opening price of $155,500.

     The auction for the eight thematic dry goods stalls and 284 dry goods stalls will be held at 9am tomorrow at the same venue.
