*************************************************

The Labour Department announced today (November 1) that it was notified by Tuen Mun Hospital on October 28 that the envelope containing personal data reported missing earlier was found in the hospital. The department retrieved the envelope and started to inform the affected persons of the matter, as well as reported the matter to the Police and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data.

The envelope remained sealed when found and the personal data therein remained intact. The department will continue the investigation into the case with the relevant authorities and has improved the current mode of dispatch arrangements with hospitals.

The Labour Department announced on October 27 that an envelope which contained personal data of 56 persons applying for employees' compensation was lost. The Labour Department reiterates that the incident will not affect the processing of the injured persons' claims.
