SCED's transcript on Competition Bill
*************************************

Following is the transcript of remarks (English portion) by the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So, at a media session after attending RTHK's programme "Accountability" this morning (October 29):

Reporter: Mr So, will you make promise that you will not make any more concession to secure the votes of the democrats because they criticised the Competition Bill as being too lenient?

Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development: I promise that I would try my best in seeing this bill go through Legislative Council, which is really in the best interest of the community and particularly for our consumers and small businesses. While we are pursuing our work in the legislature, with co-operation of the Legislative Council members, we will keep an open mind if they have objective arguments or reasons why certain provisions should be changed in order to cater to the situation of Hong Kong. We will keep an open mind.

(Please also refer to the Chinese portion of the transcript.)
