38 building plans approved in September

     The Buildings Department approved 38 building plans in September, with 14 on Hong Kong Island, nine in Kowloon and 15 in the New Territories.

     Of the approved plans, 22 were for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, six were for commercial developments, one was for factory and industrial development, and nine were for community services development.

     In the same month, consent was given for work to start on 16 building projects that, when completed, will provide 28 907 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 324 units, and 48 245 square metres of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of work for 13 building projects.

     The department also issued eight occupation permits, with one on Hong Kong Island, two in Kowloon and five in the New Territories.

     Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor area for domestic use was 3 406 square metres, involving 63 units, and 24 937 square metres for non-domestic use.

     The declared cost of new buildings completed in September totalled about $0.5 billion.

     In addition, nine demolition consents involving nine building structures were issued.

     The department received 3 559 complaints about unauthorised building works in September, and issued 591 removal orders for unauthorised works.
