Piquadro, high-end Italian leather goods brand, unveils its largest store in Hong Kong (with photo)
************************************************************

One of Italy's top names in luxury leather business bags and accessories, Piquadro, celebrated the opening of its Hong Kong flagship store at 57 Queen's Road Central today (October 27) with a visit from its President and Chief Executive Officer, Mr Marco Palmieri, who flew in from Italy for the occasion.

At the ceremony, Piquadro's latest collection, Sartoria, was also launched in Hong Kong. The collection includes a selection of limited edition professional leather products handmade in Italy. Customers can buy personalised, made-to-order products which are only available at the brand's flagship store. Each item in the collection has a serial number that guarantees its uniqueness, while a small tricolore (in the colours of the Italian national flag) in the address tag symbolises the collection's wholly Italian origin and production.

Commenting on Piquadro's location in the heart of Hong Kong's business and luxury shopping district, Mr Palmieri said, "Hong Kong has been a fast-growing market for Piquadro and the opening of the flagship store in Central is an important step forward for our expansion strategy."

"It testifies to our strategy to expand in markets where we understand the needs of customers. I am thrilled to be joining the grand opening and witnessing Piquadro's new step in the right direction," he said.

The Associate Director-General of Investment Promotion at Invest Hong Kong, Mr Andrew Davis, welcomed Piquadro's opening in Hong Kong and said, "Hong Kong has long been acknowledged as a shopper's paradise with a sophisticated local population, more than 36 million international visitors a year, and total retail sales in 2010 of almost HK$325 billion, a double-digit increase over 2009."

"The retail industry in Hong Kong is an exciting and varied scene, offering retailers and their customers a myriad of business opportunities and choice. We are delighted to have this renowned Italian brand establish its business in Hong Kong and we wish it all success as it continues its expansion in our city," he added.

Starting a business in Hong Kong, for companies large and small, has been further facilitated with the launch of the Government's electronic incorporation service in March 2011. The time required for company incorporation and business registration has now been significantly reduced from four working days to one.
