STH visits Beijing

     The Secretary for Transport and Housing, Ms Eva Cheng, will leave Hong Kong this evening (October 19) for a duty visit to Beijing. She will attend a series of seminars and visit various places over the coming two days.

     Ms Cheng will meet the Vice-Minister of Transport, Mr Weng Mengyong tomorrow morning (October 20). Both sides will sign a co-operation agreement on maritime affairs, salvaging, search and rescue, ship surveying, logistics and urban transport development.

     In the afternoon, Ms Cheng will attend one of the panel discussions of the 15th Beijing-Hong Kong Economic Co-operation Symposium. She will share Hong Kong's experience in the development and management of public rental housing with senior officials of the Beijing Municipality and leaders of housing and construction offices as well as other attendees. On Friday (October 21) she will visit a number of public rental housing and economically affordable housing projects in Beijing.

     While in Beijing, Ms Cheng will also call on officials of the Ministry of Railways.

     Accompanying Ms Cheng to the meetings will be the Director of Highways, Mr Peter Lau; Deputy Director of Marine, Mr Francis Liu; and Deputy Director of Housing, Mr Albert Lee.
