The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in September showed a decrease of 737 cases over August, representing a decrease of 0.3 per cent, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (October 19).
The total CSSA caseload at the end of September stood at 279 621 (see attached table), with a total of 448 827 recipients.
Analysed by case nature, low-earning cases registered a month-to-month decrease of 1.4 per cent to 12 936 cases, while unemployment cases showed a decrease of 0.8 per cent to 28 185 cases.
Single parent and permanent disability cases also recorded a decrease of 0.7 per cent and 0.2 per cent to 33 543 and 18 546 cases respectively.
Both old age and ill-health cases remained steady at 153 978 and 25 195 cases respectively.
