Closure order lifted for Yuen Long cooked food market stall
***********************************************************

The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene today (October 18) lifted the closure order imposed earlier on a cooked food market stall in Yuen Long.

A spokesman for the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) said, "The stall, located at Stall No. C010 of the Kin Yip Street Cooked Food Market on Kin Yip Street, Yuen Long, in the New Territories, was closed on September 23 following detection of Vibrio cholerae O1 El Tor serotype Inaba in a water sample collected from its fish tank.

"The stall operator has removed the fish tank, ceased the sale of live seafood, and taken remedial measures, including thorough cleaning and disinfection of the stall area."

The spokesman said that during the FEHD's latest inspection, the hygiene conditions of the stall were found to be satisfactory. Therefore, the FEHD considered that there was no longer an immediate health hazard on the premises.

Consequently, the Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene today decided to rescind the closure order for the cooked food market stall and allow it to resume operation with immediate effect.

"We have reminded the operator and his staff to observe good personal, environmental and food hygiene while handling food at all times," the spokesman said.
