The following is issued on behalf of the Electoral Affairs Commission:
The Electoral Affairs Commission today (October 17) released the final Guidelines on Election-related Activities in respect of the Election Committee Subsector Elections.
"The guidelines were updated by the Commission after taking into consideration the views collected during a 30-day public consultation exercise that ended on July 22," a Commission spokesman said.
"Those who intend to stand for election are urged to familiarise themselves with the guidelines and the relevant electoral legislation. They should also strictly abide by the relevant regulations."
Nominations for the non-District Councils subsectors of the 2011 Election Committee Subsector Elections will be open from November 8 to 15. The nomination period for the Hong Kong and Kowloon District Councils subsector and the New Territories District Councils subsector will run from November 18 to 24.
Polls will be held on December 11 for those subsector elections with the number of validly nominated candidates exceeding the number of Election Committee members to be returned for that subsector.
The final guidelines can be downloaded from the Commission website (www.eac.gov.hk) or obtained from the Registration and Electoral Office and the Public Enquiry Service Centres of District Offices.
