Members of the public are welcome to participate in the 2011 Inter-district Youth Soccer Competition Finals cum Carnival to be held from 2pm to 6.30pm at Sham Shui Po Sports Ground this Sunday (October 16).
The competition is organised by the Home Affairs Bureau and the Commission on Youth. Each of the 18 districts in Hong Kong was invited to send a team of young people, aged from 14 to 16, to compete in the Inter-district Youth Soccer Competition 2011 starting in August this year. The finalist teams from Yuen Long District, Eastern District, Tai Po District and Wong Tai Sin District will battle for the championship, first runner-up and second runner-up at the finals.
The event aims to raise young people's interest in football, nourish team spirit and sportsmanship, and enhance friendship among youths in different districts.
A carnival, with free admission, will be held concurrently with the football competition. The carnival will be packed with programmes suitable for all ages, including games booths, souvenirs and free snacks distribution counters, handicraft stalls, a youth talent show, a youth arts fair and a bouncing castle. Singing performances by artistes and a cheerleading performance by the Cheerleading Federation of Hong Kong, China, will also be staged.
