Jointly presented by the Chinese World Cultural Heritage Foundation and the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD), "Peace and Harmony - The Divine Spectra of China's Fragrant Harbour Exhibition" opened today (October 12) at the Hong Kong City Hall Low Block Exhibition Hall. Officiating at the opening ceremony were the Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr Tsang Tak-sing, and the Chair of the Chinese World Cultural Heritage Foundation, Dr Paul Kan.
The exhibition will be open to the public from tomorrow (October 13) until October 30. Admission tickets are available for free distribution. "Peace and Harmony - The Divine Spectra of China's Fragrant Harbour Exhibition" features the story of aloe (also known as agarwood) and its special significance to Hong Kong, given the city's name, which in Chinese means "Fragrant Harbour".
The exhibition showcases different grades and species of agarwood as well as fragrant resins including frankincense and myrrh. In addition, there are exquisite carvings and related artefacts such as Buddhist statues, incense utensils and incense oils, a giant Sakyamuni statue, the world's largest pair of Thousand-Armed Avalokitesvara in aloe and a range of classical perfume bottles from all over the world.
"Peace and Harmony - The Divine Spectra of China's Fragrant Harbour Exhibition" runs from October 13 to 29 from 10am to 8pm and on October 30 from 10am to 6pm at Hong Kong City Hall Low Block Exhibition Hall. Free admission tickets are being distributed at the following venues on a first-come, first-served basis:

Each person may get a maximum of four tickets and each ticket will admit only one person. Children aged 11 or below with valid tickets have to be accompanied by an adult. There will be two viewing sessions daily, with the first running from 10am to 3pm, and the second from 3pm to 8pm (to 6pm on October 30). Members of the public should choose a viewing session upon collection of tickets. Distributed tickets cannot be exchanged.
A small quantity of tickets will be distributed at the exhibition venue to accommodate walk-in patrons. However, admission priority will be given to visitors who have obtained valid tickets in advance.
