Dance workshops for creating modern dance

     Choreographers Chow Pui-wan and Leung Sau-yin, together with the "Dialogue" creative team, will conduct four dance workshop sessions in November.

     Chow Pui-wan was part of the first batch of dance students trained at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA). Upon graduation from the HKAPA, she was awarded a scholarship to further her studies in choreography and performance at the London Contemporary Dance School. After returning to Hong Kong, she joined the modern dance faculty at the HKAPA as a lecturer. Recently, she has concentrated on research and creation in dance. Her major works include "Journey", "Xin Xiang", "Searchlight", "Passed By" and "Execute I-Accomplish".

     Leung Sau-yin graduated from the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (Lee Wai Lee)(formerly known as Lee Wai Lee Technical Institute) in 1996 with a Diploma in Design (Visual Communication) and the HKAPA's School of Dance in 2004 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) Degree. In 2001 she was awarded a Modern Dance Lecturer's Scholarship. During her course of study in the Academy, Leung was actively involved in different productions. She also participated in the Legacy in World Dance Alliance Festival - Global Dance 2002 in Dusseldorf, Germany. Leung has been actively working with local dance companies such as Spring Poetry, YURI and company danciNG, Unlock Dancing Plaza and E-Side Modern Dance Company.

     Leung has also choreographed and created several dance pieces, including "a wild escape", "¡¯¢I¡­¡I", "A Butterfly in the Stomach", "Between", "Falling" and the recent co-created work "Endlessness". She is currently a freelance dancer and dance teacher.

     Presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, Dance on Parallel Lines Series (2): "Dialogue" (Workshops) (conducted in Cantonese) consists of four workshop sessions with different contents. The sessions will be held at 7.30pm on November 7, 14, 21 and 28 (Mondays) at GR3, 8/F, Grand Theatre Backstage, Hong Kong Cultural Centre. Tickets priced at $50 for each session are now available at all URBTIX outlets, on the Internet and by telephone credit card booking. Half-price tickets are available for senior citizens aged 60 or above, people with disabilities and their minders, full-time students and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) recipients (limited tickets for CSSA recipients available on a first-come, first-served basis).
