The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:
Queen Mary Hospital (QMH) today (October 7) announced that it has been awarded the "Hand Hygiene Excellence Award" and is to be designated as the "Foundational Global Hand Hygiene Expert Center in Asia Pacific" by the World Health Organization's First Global Safety Challenge. The award recognises QMH's outstanding commitment and dedication to improving hand hygiene standards in the Asia-Pacific region and the active participation as a pilot site for the testing of the "WHO Guidelines on Hand Hygiene in Health Care", which is now formally adopted by many countries all over the world.
