Special traffic and transport arrangements in Lo Wai in Tsuen Wan for Chung Yeung Festival on Saturday and Sunday
*********************************************************

The Transport Department (TD) today (October 7) reminded the public that as large numbers of grave sweepers are expected to go to Lo Wai in Tsuen Wan for grave sweeping on Saturday and Sunday (October 8 and 9) in connection with the Chung Yeung Festival, special traffic and transport arrangements will be implemented in this area.

The section of Lo Wai Road between Lo Wai Pai Lau and Yuen Yuen Institute will be designated as closed to all vehicular traffic from 8am to 6pm on October 8 and 9. All vehicles (including private cars), except taxis, green minibuses, emergency vehicles and vehicles with a valid closed road permit, will not be allowed to use the closed road section.

Since the number of parking spaces in nearby housing estates (Shek Wai Kok, Cheung Shan and Lei Muk Shue Estates) is limited, grave sweepers intending to go to the closed section of Lo Wai Road are advised to take public transport services as far as possible. They may take:

1. Green minibus route No. 81 (Shiu Wo Street (Tsuen Wan) - Lo Wai); or
2. KMB route No. 32S (Tsuen Wan Station (Nan Fung Centre Bus Terminus) - Tung Po Tor (Lo Wai Old Bus Terminus)) and interchange with the free shuttle buses for access to the closed section of Lo Wai Road.

Members of the public are advised to follow the latest traffic news on television and radio stations. They may also visit the TD's website (www.td.gov.hk) or call the 1823 Call Centre for the latest traffic and transport information.
