A staff member at Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre was attacked by an inmate on remand yesterday (October 2).
At around 9.30am yesterday, an Assistant Officer II (AOII) was punched in the face by an inmate when he asked the inmate to comply with the rules. The AOII immediately grasped the inmate and, in view of his violent act and to prevent him from injuring others, OC foam was applied and the inmate was consequently subdued.
During the incident, the AOII sustained injury to the nose and chest while the inmate sustained abrasion on his back. Appropriate treatment was given to them by the Medical Officer of the institution.
The case was reported to the Police.
