SJ visits Europe

     The Secretary for Justice, Mr Wong Yan Lung, SC, will leave Hong Kong this evening (October 3) for a duty visit to Europe to strengthen ties and promote Hong Kong as a premier dispute resolution centre.

     During his stay in Paris, Brussels, the Hague and Amsterdam, Mr Wong will meet senior government officials, lawyers, representatives of the arbitration and mediation sectors and business leaders to brief them on Hong Kong's latest developments in its legal services and rule of law situation. He will also meet with officials of the Hague Conference on Private International Law to discuss proposals for promoting the work of the Hague Conference in the Asia-Pacific region.

     He will deliver a keynote address at a business luncheon and address a roundtable session commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the Hague Apostille Convention.

     Mr Wong will return to Hong Kong on October 7.
