Restaurant in To Kwa Wan ordered to suspend business
****************************************************

The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has ordered a restaurant in To Kwa Wan to suspend business for 14 days. The operator repeatedly extended his food business illegally, in breach of the Food Business Regulation.

The restaurant, located on the ground floor at 2 Kiang Su Street, was ordered to suspend business from today (October 3) to October 16.

"In February and June this year, two convictions on the breach were recorded against the food premises," a spokesman for the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department said.

"A total fine of $6,000 was levied by the court and 30 demerit points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the 14-day business suspension," he added.

The licensee of the food premises also had a record of two convictions in February and November last year for the same offence. A total fine of $5,600 was levied and 30 demerit points were registered. The breaches led to business suspension for seven days from January 23 to 29 this year.

The spokesman reminded licensees of food premises to comply with the Food Business Regulation, or their licences could be suspended or cancelled.
