Youth Portal launches Where is Dr Sun? thematic website and photo contest
************************************************************

     To commemorate the centenary of the 1911 Revolution, Youth.gov.hk has launched the thematic website: Where is Dr Sun?

     To encourage young people to learn more about the connections between Hong Kong, Dr Sun Yat-sen and the 1911 Revolution, the Where is Dr Sun? website contains the following features:

* 30 historical spots in Hong Kong related to Dr Sun highlighted on a map;
* information on major events between the establishment of Xing Zhong Hui in 1894 and the death of Dr Sun in 1925, including historical photos;
* a brief introduction to key historical figures of the revolution; and
* a selection of writings by academics and students.

     Youth.gov.hk is also organising a photo contest titled Creative Take on Landmarks of History. Under the theme Quest for History and Creativity, participants are invited to take creative photos at the featured historical spots and upload their works to the contest website from today until November 14.

     There are two categories in the contest - Youth Section and Open Section. In addition to traditional works, the contest welcomes works adopting novel techniques and fashionable photographic elements to encourage creativity and arouse public interest. Entries for the contest will be judged according to the following criteria: relevance to the theme, creativity, composition, and technique.

     An Online Popularity Photo Prize will be awarded to works which garner the highest number of votes through an online voting process open to netizens. Participants may also invite friends and relatives to vote online and win prizes. The earlier the entries are submitted, the higher the chance of getting more votes!

     There are lots of great prizes for winning in the contest. Not only will winners get photo equipment coupons, but the first 150 participants will each get a DIY paper-craft camera. All winning works will be featured on the Youth.gov.hk website.

     You are welcome to visit www.youth.gov.hk/1911 for further details on the photo contest and the "Where is Dr Sun?" thematic website.

     Youth.gov.hk provides online services for young people. Apart from special features on a variety of topics, there is also detailed information on interest classes as well as arts and cultural activities. Visit the website (www.youth.gov.hk) to learn more.
