Media representatives visit LegCo Complex (with photos)
*******************************************************

The following is issued on behalf of the Legislative Council Secretariat:

The Legislative Council (LegCo) Secretariat arranged two separate tours for about 40 media representatives from 12 electronic news media organisations and 16 printed news media organisations to the LegCo Complex today (September 30) to enable them to know more about the meeting and media facilities in the Complex. During the visit, some media representatives noticed that the double-layer glass panels of the Photo Rooms in the Conference Rooms might affect their photo-taking work. The LegCo Secretariat discussed the matter with the photographers immediately in the afternoon and listened to their views. After discussion, the contractor undertook to carry out a series of measures to further enhance the situation.

Accompanied by Secretary General of the LegCo Secretariat, Ms Pauline Ng, the media representatives toured the meeting, education and media facilities in the LegCo Complex this morning, including the Chamber, Conference Rooms, Ante-Chamber, Dining Hall, Press Conference Rooms, Press Room, Library, Children Corner, Memory Lane and Education Gallery. During the tour, some media representatives noted that the double-layer glass panels of the Photo Rooms in the Conference Rooms might affect their photo-taking work. They suggested increasing the transparency of the glass panels and strengthening the lighting effect in the meeting venues.

The LegCo Secretariat has accepted the photographers' suggestions and would ask the contractor to take immediate measures to improve the situation, including dismantling one of the two glass panels in the Photo Rooms of the Conference Rooms, removing the film covering the glass panels of the Photo Rooms in Conference Room 1 and strengthening the lighting effect in the Chamber and the Conference Rooms. The photographers believed that these measures would be able to facilitate their work. The LegCo Secretariat would ask the contractor to carry out the necessary work this weekend and invite the photographers to visit the Photo Rooms again next Monday.
