At a media briefing this afternoon (September 30) regarding a semi-submersible barge stranded off Heng Fa Chuen, the Marine Department announced the follow-up action being taken to reduce the possible risk concerning the vessel.
The action includes asking the operator of the vessel to lower and secure the concrete conveying pipe of the vessel as soon as possible.
Any fuel oil on board the vessel is to be removed.
The operator has been instructed to lay additional anchors to stabilise the vessel and avoid any further damage.
The operator, in conjunction with the department, is formulating a salvage plan.
The Director of Marine has ordered an investigation into the incident which is ongoing.
