Local choreographers to energise the stage in October and November
**********************************************************

The Leisure and Cultural Services Department's New Force in Motion Series will present two energetic dance programmes by local choreographers in October and November.

In October, up-and-coming local choreographer and dancer Elaine Kwok will perform with dance artists Gabbie Chan, Cyrus Hui, Connie Lau and Sylvia Lee in her latest work "Solo". Kwok is a graduate of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, having majored in modern dance. Her recent choreographic works include "Of Mud and Dust", which she performed at the Hong Kong Arts Festival 2011, and "Melting Solitude", presented by Passoverdance in 2010.

In November Ivanhoe Lam's Dance Theatre "27" will take to the stage, featuring artists from Hong Kong, the Netherlands, Croatia and Sweden. In this presentation, Lam's choreography is a theatre of the absurd, while his concept is all about perception. The world is ever-changing, re-interpreting itself every second to make life more exciting and alter everyone's understanding of the world around them. Even water is no longer simple - it has added ingredients. Meaning is projected in a bizarre fashion, meaning that even the most familiar objects become unrecognisable. Is what we see truly what it is?
