Twenty seven building plans approved in August

     The Buildings Department approved 27 building plans in August - seven on Hong Kong Island, six in Kowloon and 14 in the New Territories.

     Of the approved plans, 17 were for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, two were for commercial developments, one was for factory and industrial developments, and seven were for community services developments.

     In the same month, consent was given for work to start on 21 building projects that, when completed, will provide 255 056 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 3 903 units, and 57 640 square metres of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of work for 13 building projects.

     The department also issued 25 occupation permits - eight on Hong Kong Island, five in Kowloon and 12 in the New Territories.

     Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor area for domestic use was 169 015 square metres, involving 1 931 units, and 92 272 square metres for non-domestic use.

     The declared cost of new buildings completed in August totalled about $4.7 billion.

     In addition, seven demolition consents involving seven building structures were issued.

     The department received 4 267 complaints against unauthorised building works in August, and issued 762 removal orders on unauthorised works.
