Police are investigating a traffic accident in Sheung Shui today (September 23) in which an 84-year-old woman died.
About 9.15am, a medium goods vehicle (MGV) driven by a 55-year-old man was travelling along Lung Sum Avenue. When turning into San Shing Avenue, it reportedly hit the 84-year-old woman who was crossing the road.
The woman sustained severe injury to her body and was rushed to North District Hospital where she was certified dead at 9.57am.
The driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and is being detained pending further enquiries.
Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories North Region are under way.
