Hongkong Post today (September 22) announced details of the Special Stamps Issuing Programme 2012 and the 2012 Local Standing Order Service (LSOS).

Hongkong Post's 2012 special stamp issues centre around the delights in everyday life. Issues like "Hong Kong Festivals", "Hong Kong Delicacies", "Hong Kong Insects II", "Working Dogs in Government Service" and "Hong Kong, China - France Joint Issue on Art" all relate to us while celebrating the dynamic lifestyle in our cosmopolitan city. At the same time, the "Heartwarming Stamps (2006 version) Mini-pane with Fragrance" and "12 Western Zodiac Signs" stamp issues will bring you loads of fun with their unique designs. To dedicated philatelists, the "Year of the Dragon" and "World Heritage in China Series No. 1: The Great Wall" are the ones to watch out for as they are the first special stamps of the fourth Lunar New Year Animal Series and the World Heritage in China Series respectively.

The Programme also includes various first-ever associated stamp products, which help to spice up the fun of philately. The first-ever silk stamp sheetlet under the "Year of the Dragon" and the "Gold and Silver Stamp Sheetlet on Lunar New Year Animals - A Complete Collectible Set" will undoubtedly pump up the New Year atmosphere. The new edition mini-pane of the 2006 "Heartwarming Stamps" with a new layout and an aromatic twist is bound to melt your heart with rose fragrance. In addition, the first-ever shield-shaped stamp in the stamp sheetlet of "The 150th Anniversary of the Queen's College" commemorates the anniversary of the first government school in Hong Kong.

The themes and topics were carefully selected from among 110 different entries and meticulously developed from 98 initial designs by the Stamp Advisory Committee in a series of meetings held throughout 2010 and into 2011.

Advance orders for the Programme may be placed with effect from today through Hongkong Post's LSOS, and those who do so from September 22 to October 25 are eligible to join an incentive scheme and receive attractive gifts. Customers using the Stamp OnNet online ordering service will also enjoy extra rewards as well as an extended period to take advantage of the incentive scheme until October 31.

Further information about the special stamp issues and related products can be obtained from any post office and from the Hongkong Post website at www.hongkongpost.com, or by calling the Hongkong Post Philatelic Bureau hotline at 2785 5711.
