The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in August showed a decrease of 701 cases over July, representing a decrease of 0.2 per cent, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (September 21).
The total CSSA caseload at the end of August stood at 280 358 (see attached table), with a total of 456 789 recipients.
Analysed by case nature, low-earning cases registered a month-to-month decrease of 2.2 per cent to 13 121 cases, while unemployment cases showed a decrease of 1 per cent to 28 421 cases.
Single parent and permanent disability cases also recorded decreases of 0.6 per cent and 0.1 per cent to 33 796 and 18 591 cases respectively.
Both old age and ill-health cases registered an increase of 0.1 per cent to 153 955 and 25 186 cases respectively.
