The Labour Department will hold a recruitment and training expo at Wo Hing Sports Centre, Fanling on September 23.
A total of 66 organisations will participate in the expo. Sixty organisations will set up counters and conduct on-the-spot recruitment on the event day. They mainly come from the retail, catering and property management industries, offering a total of about 4 000 vacancies.
Six training and other social services organisations will also participate in the expo. These organisations will introduce training courses and employment counselling services to job seekers and participants of the expo.
Vacancies offered cover a wide variety of positions, such as customer service representative, sales, chef, waiter or waitress, cashier, beautician, receptionist, technician, security guard, clerk, warehouse assistant and driver. Job seekers who want to know more about the vacancies may visit the department's Interactive Employment Service website (www.jobs.gov.hk).
About 80 per cent of the vacancies offered are full-time jobs. The majority of the vacancies offer a monthly salary ranging from $6,000 to $11,000. About 98 per cent of these vacancies require Secondary Five educational level or below. Around 67 per cent are open to job seekers without relevant experience.
Job seekers can submit applications on the spot and may be selected for on-site interviews. The Labour Department will also conduct on-the-spot registration for job seekers.
The expo will be held from 11am to 5.30pm at Wo Hing Sports Centre, 8 Wo Ming Lane, Fanling, New Territories (Next to Wah Ming Estate Bus Terminus). Admission is free.
