Road works at Yuet Wah Street Pedestrian Linkage in Kwun Tong gazetted

     The Government published in the Gazette today (September 16) the proposed road works in Kwun Tong District. The construction works are scheduled to commence in early 2013 and are expected to be completed by early 2015.

     The proposed works include:

(i) construction of a lift tower with two lifts at Hip Wo Street Rest Garden and construction of a footbridge and an at-grade covered pedestrian walkway connecting the proposed lift tower to Yuet Wah Street and Entrance D of the Kwun Tong Mass Transit Railway (MTR) Station respectively;

(ii) construction of a lift tower with one lift at Entrance D2 of the Kwun Tong MTR Station, and construction of footpaths connecting the proposed lift tower to the proposed lift tower at Hip Wo Street Rest Garden.

(iii) construction of a footpath and a staircase connecting to the proposed footbridge connecting Yuet Wah Street and the proposed lift tower at Hip Wo Street Rest Garden.;

(iv) construction of a temporary staircase from the bridge deck of Entrance D of Kwun Tong MTR Station to Hip Wo Street Rest Garden, and construction of a retaining wall along the covered pedestrian walkway connecting the proposed lift tower at Hip Wo Street Rest Garden to Entrance D of the Kwun Tong MTR Station;

(v) permanent closure and demolition of sections of the existing footpaths and staircases;

(vi) temporary closure and reconstruction, modification or realignment of sections of the existing footpaths and staircases from Yuet Wah Street to Kwun Tong Road;

(vii) temporary closure of sections of the existing footpaths and amenity area of Hip Wo Street Rest Garden; and

(viii) ancillary works including site formation, geotechnical, slope, drainage, sewage, water supplies, utilities, landscaping, and electrical and mechanical works.

     The plan and scheme are available for public inspection at the following Government Offices during office hours:

     Any person who wishes to object to the proposed works or the use, or both should write to the office of the Secretary for Transport and Housing, 16th Floor, Murray Building, Garden Road, Hong Kong on or before November 15.
