Response to falling of tree branch in Kuk Ting Street, Yuen Long

     The Tree Management Office (TMO) of Development Bureau and the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) send their best wishes to a woman injured by a fallen tree branch outside a public toilet in Kuk Ting Street, Yuen Long yesterday (September 10) and wish her a speedy recovery. She was treated and discharged from hospital.

     The tree concerned is a 13-metre high Flame of the Forest located within a sitting-out area in front of the public toilet, with a diameter of 35 centimetres at breast height.

     The trees within the boundary of the public toilet are under the maintenance of an FEHD contractor and inspection was conducted in the middle of this year.

     In response to the incident, staff of FEHD and TMO went to the scene to find out about the situation.

     According to the preliminary on-site observation, the general health condition of the tree is good, while its structural condition is fair.

     TMO together with FEHD will conduct detailed investigation to ascertain the cause of the incident.

     FEHD will instruct its contractor to promptly check the tree concerned, inspect other trees within the boundary of the public toilet and take follow-up action as appropriate.
